About
A picture Bible, for everyone.
Six hundred years ago, before most people could read, churches made picture Bibles. Scholars call them the Biblia pauperum, the “Bible of the poor”: page after page of scenes, so anyone could see the stories.
PictureBookBible carries on that idea. We are illustrating the Bible scene by scene, adding gentle motion like moving water and twinkling stars, and reading it aloud, so a five-year-old at bedtime and a grown-up who loves art can both sit with the stories.
What we promise
- The words stay the words. Scripture is the King James Version, quoted exactly. We never change it.
- Only the Bible's words. We never reword or summarize Scripture. Settings change the size of things, never the words.
- God is shown as light and voice, never drawn as a man.
- You choose. In Settings you decide how the hardest scenes are shown. Everything is shown unless you change it.
- Free. The site is free for every family. It is kept going by readers who choose to give.
